Oh, hi!

Been gone. Nowhere good, just not here on the blog. I survived the holidays and am just waiting for spring. I was updating my Ravelry and thought I would throw it up here too. I knit this sweater for The Girl. It’s top down following Barbara Walker’s direction and it turned out pretty well. She wears it so that’s high praise. Oh yeah, I used Shepherd’s Wool on size 9 needles for the bod and size 8 on the ribbing. I finished it off with a mock turtle/funnel neck per The Girl’s request. She picked the colors, too. I almost went blind trying to knit this thing.

Can you tell she’s been wearing it – a LOT? Yeah.

I’m off. Hopefully I’ll be updating more often. That’s my goal for 2009.

Fat Beagle’s pee is magic

For years I have been trying to get my christmas cacti to bloom. My mother’s always bloom and all she did was ignore them. Damn. I finally got fed up last year and as soon as it warmed up this year I threw them outside and there they stayed all summer long. Banished. For if you don’t produce for Holly you get “the treatment”. Little did I know “the treatment” for the cacti would involve Fat Beagle pee. The culprit:

innocuous enough, no? He’s goofy, he smells a little at times, food is his only motivation and low and behold his pee is magic! At some point I witnessed him lifting his leg on my cacti and thought it was all over but apparently this certain brand of cacti is of the masochistic “give me a golden shower and I will perform for you” variety. Who knew? I have proof though:

I might just get that dog to pee on my jade plant next.

I’ve finished up a few things lately that I should really get up here. First we have the Endpaper Mitts from Eunny Jang as modeled by The Girl

She’s a study in pinks and blues. I’m curious about when this whole “gangsta” thing is going to be over with her and her friends. Anyway, I knit those in Louet Gems, caribou and aqua. I guess I used fingering weight? It used to be called Louet Gems Pearl. That’s how long those things were on the needles – I forgot the yarn. Nice.

I knit a sweater for Senor. He was cold and it’s way easier to knit a sweater for him than it is for Poopsie, The Fat Assed Beagle.

Doesn’t he look smart? Don’t worry, the pink is less humiliating than the fact that he no longer has balls. I did that up in some cheapo Lion’s Brand cashmere blend I had laying around. No pattern. I knit a ribbed tube, heh heh heh, with a rollneck and two button holes for his arms. It fits perfectly and he doesn’t even attempt to get it off. If his garments are even the slightest too big – most store bought clothes are – he’s out like Houdini.

Let me see…I got some picks of the neck steek on Fyne right before I realizd I had fucked up the placement by one stitch and had to rip it back

Things are going much better now but I am worrying about how to do the back neck steek. I am trying not to think about it ’til I get there. I know. Good luck. I’ve been dreaming about the god damned thing.

Lastly, Grandma. Swan Lake was a huge hit. She ran all around her retirement home showin’ the ladies. They oohed and aahed over the stitches and the beads and the fact that her Granddaughter knit it BY HAND! Big gold star for Holly! She’s excited to wear it everywhere but especially while she’s smokin’ the other residents at cards.

I started another hat for Mr. but no pics at this time. Later.
